How to report your bank to CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given tips in series of tweets how customers can directly send complaints to them if they have unresolved issues with banks concerning financial transactions

The Nigerian banks regulatory body CBN in a bid to boost financial transparency and efficiency provided email addresses and phone number for account users to always contact if they experience debit card issues, transfer issues, excess charges issues, etc.
Before contacting the CBN, you are required the lodge a formal complain to your bank and wait for their response for at least 72-hours before reaching the CBN by calling (+234 7002255226) or sending your complain to this emails (cpd@cbn.gov.ng or contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng)

Before you reach the CBN you are required to insist and get a ‘’Consumer Complaint Management System (CCMS) tracking number’’ from your just after lodging your complain,

Format of a complaint letter to CBN

The CBN Consumer Protection Department requires you complain letter to have the following details

• Complainants Name, Residential Address, Phone Number & E- mail of the complainant

• Name of the bank you have issues with

• Personal banking details (PIN & Passwords not included)

• Date of the transaction in dispute,

• Amount in dispute

• Evidence to show that you have lodged a complaint (CCMS) tracking number

Additionally CBN has directed customers to also bring to their notice any bank that refuse to collect torn money
