The Supreme Court of Nigeria has confirmed the right of the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister political parties.

An appeal was filed by National Unity Party (NUP) because it was deregister by INEC last year, Chima Nweze, who gave the lead judgment in the lawsuit.

Chima, affirmed the right of INEC to deregister a political party, that INEC exercised its power as contained in the Nigerian constitution, this took place yesterday, Friday, May 7 2021.
