Lagos state police command have issued a warning to residents of the state against staging another protest to commemorate the #EndSARS protest one-year anniversary.

Last year 2020 October, during the Corona Virus pandemic, Nigerian youths took to the streets to seek government to end police brutality and reform the country in a peaceful protest which later turned violent.

A lot of lives and properties were wasted as a result of the demonstration.

The Lagos state police spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, revealed that reliable intelligence source has it that some youths, individuals or groups were planning to still carry out another protest to commemorate the one year anniversary of #ENDSARS protest.

The command quoted that "Lagos residents cannot stand the bad experience of last year's protest which caused pain, anguish, needless loss of lives and wanton destruction of public and private property"

Adding that any individual who stages a protest in commemoration of last year's will face the full wrath of the law.

He said;

''In view of the volatility of the present situations in the country, and the breakdown of law and order which the planned protest might cause, the Lagos State Police Command sternly warns against any form of protest today.

The Command wishes to use this medium to warn the youths, groups, or associations planning such protest to jettison the idea forthwith. The police in the state will not fold their arms and allow some misguided elements disrupt the peace and serenity currently being enjoyed in the state.

To forestall breakdown of law and order, the police will use all legitimate means within their constitutional powers to suppress the planned protest.

Therefore, parents and guardians are advised to warn their children against participating in the planned protest. Individuals or groups sponsoring such protest are also warned in their own interest to desist from such unpatriotic plan or face the full weight or wrath of the law.''

Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu also added that all Lagos residents should go to work and carry out their business without fear as the police have put together measures to safe guard their properties today and after.
