Armed bandits have abducted about 40 Islamic worshippers worshippers in a mosque during midnight prayers in Jibya town of Katsina State.

Reports suggests the armed bandits raided the mosque when Tahajjud was going on at midnight amid the holy month of Ramadan.

Eye witnesses revealed to Daily Nigeria that tens of armed bandits invaded the worship center around 2a.m early hours of May 10,  and abducted  about 40 Islamic faithfuls 

Residents told correspondents that the bandits kidnapped about 47 persons but let seven of them go.

A Jibiya resident, Lawal Jibiya said they were alerted as the insurgent were heading towards their community by the neighbouring villagers

He added that youths and members of the local vigilante in their community were  prepared for the enemy attack but the bandits took another entry point and came in from the western entry into their community.

Lawal quoted all their eyes were on the eastern entry through Daddara, Kukar Babangida or Magama but they went beyond the town and camped at a place Jibawa. 

That was were they accessed their town from Jibawa and gained entry near Yunusa Dantauri Hospital and attacked the Mosque that is located at the outskirt of Jibiya town he concluded.
