INEC removes polling units from shrines, churches, mosques.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed the elimination of  749 polling units from unsuitable centres.

The electoral governing body announced that it has delisted about nine (9) polling centers from shrines, churches, mosques, royal palaces and private owned properties.

Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman made this public on Wednesday 16th June 2021, during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Abuja.

According to INEC Nigeria has accredited 176,846 polling units from formally 119,973 accredited ones.

Meanwhile the commission has converted some accredited voting venues to polling units as it aims for transparent polls come 2023.
