Cooking gas marketers in Nigeria have warned that the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price may increase to N10,000 by December 2021.
Now the price of 12.5kg is been sold around N7,500 and N8,000.
Marketers of the commodity have warned that shortage in it's supply may see the price go up to N10,000 in a few months.
Addressing the issue at a Pan-African forum, Platforms Africa on Saturday, October 9, LPG marketers quoted that Nigerians are back using firewood, sawdust, charcoal and other unrefined energy sources for cooking even though prices of those materials are also on the rise.
The Executive Secretary of the National Association of LPG Marketers, Mr Bassey Essien, told the FGN to review the recently introduced import charges and Value Added Tax (VAT).
He said if the warning is neglected, the price of cooking gas may as well reach N10,000 per 12.5kg cylinder.
He also added that, the marketers are discussing with government officials on how the problem will be solved ASAP!
